Stonebraker - John - 1901

Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Journal Friday, 3 May 1901

Uncle John Stonebraker, who was buried last Sunday two weeks ago in the Alamo Cemetery, was born in Ohio, and in the early days when this country was comparatively new, he came here with his parents. In time he married a Miss Weir, sister of Uncle John Weir, now living a few miles east of Alamo. From this union one child now lives, Mrs. Abner Gray, of near Wallace. His first wife having died, he took for his second wife Miss Frankie Rush, who survives him. Two children, John B. Stonebraker, of Kirksville, Mo., and Mrs. Louise Booe, of Waynetown, and an adopted daughter, Mrs. Anna Dowden also live to mourn their father’s death.

He lived to a good old age, being 84 years old when he died. He had always lived an upright life, a faithful Christian man and a firm believer in the word of God. The church of his choice was the United Brethren, of which he closely attended when his health would permit.

He leaves his three children and wife, who is very feeble, being in her 89th year. She feels that her days are numbered and that it will not be long until she will meet her husband on the shining shore.
The funeral sermon was delivered at the M. E. Church by the pastor of the U. B. Church, Rev. Dixon, after which the body was laid to rest from this world of turmoil. =thanks muches to "S" for all her great obit work (on this site and elsewhere)
